Dave Brubeck Quartet - "Time Out"
Many artists were influenced by the new "cool" jazz style that was started by Miles Davis. West coast musicians in California were among the first to experiment with the new form and so "West Coast Jazz" was born. The Dave Brubeck Quartet consisted of Dave Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Eugene Wright on bass. The Quartet recorded "Time Out" in 1959 to immediate commercial success. The entire album plays with the idea of time signature. Specifically, time signatures that are not typically used in jazz. Can you figure out the time signature of the track?
