Jazz Ensemble I
BHS Jazz Ensemble I is a regular daily class and is open to students grade 10 – 12. This ensemble with standard big-band instrumentation meets everyday during 7th hour and focuses on individual and ensemble jazz technique, jazz theory, jazz history and improvisation. The band has several performances throughout the year including one in early fall, ensemble contest in February, winter and spring concerts. Jazz Ensemble I also participates in regional jazz festivals including the Bemidji State University Jazz Fest and the nationally renowned University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire Jazz Festival and Competition.
Jazz Ensemble II
BHS Jazz Ensemble II is an activity open to all 9-12 grade band students. The ensemble meets Tuesday and Thursdays from 7:30-8:15am and focuses on individual and ensemble jazz technique, jazz theory, jazz history and improvisation. The band has several performances throughout the year including a fall, winter and spring concert.
Jazz Ensemble III
BHS Jazz Ensemble III is an activity open to all 9-12 grade band students. The ensemble meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30-8:15am and focuses on individual and ensemble jazz technique, jazz theory, jazz history and improvisation. The band has several performances throughout the year including a fall, winter and spring concert. Jazz Ensemble II is meant as a first and second year jazz experience and is open to all instruments.
