BHS 2019 Band Tour Chaperone Application
We have been contacted by a number of parents concerning chaperones for this tour. Chaperones for a band tour MUST be a parent of a band member or staff with ISD 181. Chaperones are expected to be “on call” for the entire schedule. There is no “down time” when a chaperone can go off in another direction and get away from the group. On tour, chaperones will work together to oversee the entire group, and at times will be in charge of a smaller core group to explore the city or get a meal. Chaperones will be expected to obey by all policies of the tour. At all times chaperones must obey Minnesota State High School League policies, and are subject to decisions by the director. That means some “adult” activities may not happen on tour, including any use of tobacco products or liquor.
There are many benefits to chaperoning a band tour. First and foremost, chaperones share in the experiences of the kids on tour. Chaperones also get a unique opportunity to connect with kids in a special way. Chaperones get access to all musical moments on tour. The job can be long hours, but it is worth it to those who are so inclined. Chaperones pay 75% of the tour cost.
